If George Washington was King
Here is an interesting question: if the United States had not become a republic, and George Washington had become king, then who would be the king today? To answer this question, it is necessary to figure out who is the closest direct male descendant of the first American president. As reported in Newsweek, it would be Paul Emery Washington, a retired regional manager of a building supply company living in San Antonio, Texas.
Rules of succession vary from country to country and, obviously, the United States does not have succession rules for kings. Thus, to determine who could have been king of the United States is a subjective exercise at best. However, given the 8,000 known descendants of George Washington, it appears that Paul Emery Washington would be the most likely successor if George Washington had ever become king.
