‘Dead’ Father Found Eight Years Later
As any genealogist knows, many genealogy records are of questionable value. Even old government records can contain misspellings, typos and even outright errors. Apparently, these problems can extend to modern government records as well and sometimes the errors can be big ones.
The Telegraph has an interesting story about how a series of errors led to the wrong person being declared dead. Fortunately, the story had a happy ending and the father was reunited with his family. It serves as a useful reminder to check and double check all genealogical facts, even from official government records.
